IMAGE RACING’S Jordan Boys will step up to the Dunlop Super2 Series next weekend, driving the Holden Commodore VF vacated by Renee Gracie.

This weekend Boys, who currently is placed second in the Kumho Tyres V8 Touring Cars Series, will race in the teams ex-Stone Brothers Ford Falcon FG at Phillip Island before making his Dunlop Series debut next weekend at the Sandown 500 meeting.

“It is really exciting,” said Boys. “It definitely came out of the blue, I had no idea it was on the cards.

“I am really looking forward to the challenge and it will really be great to have a team mate like Jack Perkins to compare too.”

Boys has plenty of experience at the Sandown circuit and is very familiar with the track. “The big difference is that in the Formula Ford you have to dodge all the kerbs, whereas these you go over them in these cars.’

Wyhoon had two choices to go with when the car became available, whether with Smith or the other team driver Josh Smith. “When Josh pulled out this weekend so the obvious choice was Jordan,” Wyhoon alluded.

“So, to come here to Phillip Island and do 300ks and then go on and do Sandown will be great experience for him.”

There is not much of a transition between the Falcon and Commodore according to Wyhoon. “They are much the same to be honest and Sandown is a place Jordan has run before, so we definitely don’t have to think about the track.

“He is going there with no expectations at all and I think at the end of the (next) weekend we might be pleasantly surprised.”
