Frenchman, Romain Dumas, has won his third Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, with a time of 9:05.672s in his custom built 2017 Norma MXX RD Limited.

Winning the event both outright and in the Unlimited Class, Dumas’s time was a clear 30 seconds faster than the next best time of Peter Cunningham, a Pikes Peak rookie, in his 2017 Acura TLX GT.

The 2014 and 2016 winner, Dumas, became the first person to successfully win defend the Pikes Peak title since Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima won six in a row from 2006 to 2011. However didn’t look to threaten Sebastien Loeb record time of 8:13.878s.

Meanwhile the Aussie contingent had a mixed event. Rennie Scaysbrook finished second in the Heavyweight Motorcycle class and seventh outright on his 2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

David Rowe finished seventh in the Unlimited Class, 58th outright, in his 1985 Audi Quattro S1E2. While Tony Quinn was classified eighth in Unlimited class and 68th outright, even though he had a slow finish to his run in his 2015 Ford Focus.
