The Shannons Nationals has every reason to celebrate at Phillip Island, knocking up 100 rounds this weekend.

Arguably the biggest round for the season, the Nationals fronts up the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit with a bucket-full of talented drivers and exotic racing cars.

This weekend will feature the opening round of the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship, which has a strong line-up of competitors aiming to claim a healthy chunk of points for the championship.

Names and the likes of Garth Tander, Steve Richards, Tony D’Alberto, Craig Baird, David Russell and Warren Luff will front up this weekend’s grid, including a mix of some very accomplished GT drivers.

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia also returns to the Shannons Nationals this weekend, and the Pro-Am races will definitely be one of the main highlights for this weekend.

The race weekend will be hard-fought for the Porsche competitors, with Supercars stars Tim Slade and Lee Holdsworth set to be behind the wheel, while young guns like Andre Heimgartner and Jaxon Evans will be there to give them a run for their money.

Sister Porsche series, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Pirelli, also joins the Nationals this weekend, which will have fans seeing double as the GT3 Cup cars race around the Island.

Former Olympic sprinter John Steffensen returns for the weekend, who currently leads the Professional class ahead of young guns Jordan Love and Brenton Grove.

The CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship joins the Nationals for the first time at the Island, which will see some of Australia’s youngest racing talent race side-by-side in their open-wheel wings-and-slicks cars.

New Zealander Liam Lawson currently leads the championship, however Nick Rowe in second and Cameron Shields in third will be hustling Lawson at the front.

Radical Australia Cup is the fifth category with the Nationals this weekend, with everyone to have their eyes on Peter Paddon as he continues his dominance in the series.

Practice commences tomorrow morning, with races set to begin on Saturday. The Shannons Nationals will have a free and live stream on Sunday, featured on the new and improved www.thenationals.com.au
