De Pasquale readying himself for the unknown

Anton De Pasquale

Ten drivers will race into the unknown this weekend as the first-ever Supercars Finals kicks off, and Anton De Pasquale cannot wait.

This weekend’s Gold Coast 500 will be a historic occasion as ten drivers will aim to clinch one of the seven tickets to progress to the next stage at Sandown.

One of the lucky few still in contention is Team 18’s De Pasquale.

After a consistent campaign, he finished seventh in the championship, 68 points above the cut-off line.

Before a disappointing Great Race, De Pasquale had finished in nine successive races in the top 10 with two podiums.

With little to lose and everything to gain, he cannot wait for the new challenge.

“Finals time, the show goes on and I am excited to be a part of the first finals series, it’s really cool,” De Pasquale said.

“To do it on the Gold Coast, I think it’s going to be pretty spectacular.

“It’s the most intense street track we go to, so it’s going to be good and exciting.

“We’ll try and roll out a fast car and give it our all.

“Not sure how it’s going to play out just yet, but it’ll be exciting.

“It’s an unknown because it’s the first time doing finals for Supercars, so it’ll be interesting to see what tactics and everything people come up with leading into it.

“Obviously, a fast car and being at the front’s going to get you to the next round. The sole goal is to win, but also to keep the show going on.”
