Van Gisbergen secures multi-year NASCAR extension

The American dream is not slowing down anytime soon for Shane van Gisbergen after the Kiwi signed a multi-year extension to stay in the NASCAR Cup Series with Trackhouse.
Van Gisbergen is writing one of the biggest fairytales in modern motorsport, having followed in the footsteps of Marcos Ambrose by forging a NASCAR career from Supercars.
It all started in 2023 when he famously won on debut on the streets of Chicago in a last-lap thriller driving Trackhouse’s Project 91 Camaro.
SVG made the move to America in 2024, having left his Supercars career behind, and ran a full Xfinity Series.
After select wildcard runs, van Gisbergen has stepped up as a Cup Series rookie in 2025 and already produced a record-breaking campaign highlighted by three wins at Mexico, Sonoma and Chicago. This has seen him tie the record for the most wins by a rookie within a season.
These successes have seen Trackhouse scramble to secure the Kiwi for the future and the 36-year-old could not be happier to stay.
“I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home,” said Van Gisbergen.
“Trackhouse gave me the opportunity to race at Chicago in 2023. That was just a one-race deal, and everything that has happened since then is because of the chance Justin (Marks, Trackhouse founder and owner) took on me.
“The men and women at Trackhouse have helped me feel at home in this new challenge, and I’ve been loving every minute of it.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but I couldn’t be happier.”
Marks believes he has secured a “superstar” who will only grow.
“We are getting to watch one of the superstars of racing,” said Marks.
“What we are asking him to do carries a high degree of difficulty.
“He’s moved to the other side of the world, learned a new form of racing and at times dominated the competition. He’s one of the greatest.”
This weekend van Gisbergen is eyeing success at Watkins Glen.
