Kostecki joins Morris in TA2 assault

Paul Morris and Brodie Kostecki

By Thomas Miles

Brodie Kostecki and Paul Morris will add further star power to the TA2 Muscle Cars Tag Team Enduro coming up at Queensland Raceway.

Kostecki and Morris will join forces to steer the Nash Morris #67 Mustang at the August 15-17 event in another boost for the event.

Due to “Flash” heading over to TFH Racing to partner Diesel Thomas, the car became available.

With the likes of Todd Hazelwood and Craig Lowndes also already on the grid, the combined total of Bathurst wins racing TA2s will be 10.

Kostecki and Morris won the Bathurst 1000 a decade apart in 2024 and 2014, respectively, but are very close despite coming from different eras.

Morris has been a key part of Kostecki’s career, with the pair working closely together at Norwell Motorplex.

It was “The Dude” who came up with the idea and it only came to mind as recently as last week.

“I floated the idea to Brodie last week, the car was sitting in the workshop, and I figured we should go racing,” Morris said.

“I’ve done a few laps in Nash’s TA2 car about 18 months ago and Brodie’s last run in a TA2 Camaro saw him on the podium at Queensland Raceway.

“We haven’t had a chance to test on the new tyres, so there are a few unknowns, but we’re going there to have a proper crack and chase a strong result.”

Kostecki has one TA2 start under his belt, driving a Camaro in the 2022 single-driver round at Queensland Raceway and scored a podium.

He cannot wait to race alongside a figure who has given him so much throughout his rise to a Supercars champion.

“Paul floated the idea to me last week while we were in the workshop, and it came together pretty quickly from there,” Kostecki said.

“I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel and have some fun. It’s great to see Paul racing in a competitive car again, he’s been doing a solid job in the V8 SuperUte Series but teaming up with him in something like this is pretty special.

“Paul’s been a huge mentor throughout my career, so to finally share a car with him in a proper race is something I’ve always looked forward to.

“I can’t wait to see how we stack up.”

The TA2 Tag Team Enduro entry list continues to grow with Lowndes, Hazelwood, George Miedecke, Nash Morris, Aaron Seton, Jarrod Hughes and Tim Slade all also racing.

The enduro is the fifth round of the season and will be broadcast on SBS and Fox/Kayo.
