Dawn breaks at the Le Mans 24

It is now 6:20 am at the time of writing, and I must admit that I did sleep for around 30 minutes at my desk, and the computer screen is now a slight blur.
So were the LED numbers on the side of the machines as they tore up under the Dunlop Bridge, but after a few circuits, I could finally make out that the Ferraris had taken back the lead.
This Le Mans 24 hasn’t been a war of mechanical attrition as with the past two LMH/LMDh Hypercar battles, with only one full course yellow, and it was brief at that. Or maybe I missed one when I fell asleep?
Five LMGT3s have retired, one LMP2, and only one Hypercar, and there has only been a few meetings with the wall here and there.
As night broke, Ferrari was in control and running a one-two-three, before several penalties saw things start to unravel for the Maranello garage, with Porsche taking advantage with the #6 963, which was disqualified for qualifying. Aussie Matt Campbell took a good bulk of the late hours.
It’s a bloody long race, however, and now that I’m finally in attendance, I truly know just how long it is.
When the field set off – peeling off pit-wall one by one – there was a tense feeling of dread for the hours that lay ahead, and the feeling still remains that something is always around the corner.
Just as I finished writing up, the Iron Dames Porsche was shunted into the gravel, which will cause another Full Course Yellow.
Nine hours and 17 minutes remain.
