Grove’s AMG has big shunt at Le Mans

Stephen Grove’s Iron Lynx Mercedes AMG hit the barrier at high speed before the Dunlop Bridge during FP1 at the Le Mans 24, and was thankfully reported in good health by the trackside announcer. Auto Action reports, live from Le Mans.
Driving the #63 AMG and sharing the LMGT3 machine alongside son Brenton and Luca Stolz, the team will have just a few hours window to have the car ready for practice which begins at 18:45.
Heading into the sketchy Dunlop Curves through a high-speed kink, Grove’s Mercedes – which is running with little aero to increase its speed – lost control and slammed into the left side wall, throwing up the bonnet and damaging the front of the AMG.
The service cars arrived promptly and Grove could be seen exiting the car (far left in the picture) with the track announcer reporting him as OK (More news updates to follow).

The AMG was placed in P21 on the time-charts with a fastest lap of 4.01.241 – over three seconds off the pace and running as the heaviest machine on the grid, hit hard by the BoP.
Fellow Aussie Martin Berry was P16 in the #61 Iron Lynx AMG with 45 minutes of the session remaining.
