Tamasi takes QR hat-trick

Steven Tamasi and his Holden Calibra have soared to a perfect hat-trick of Sports Sedans wins at Queensland Raceway.
After winning a tense duel with Geoff Taunton on Saturday, Tamasi repeated the success on both occasions on Sunday to enjoy a perfect haul in Round 2 of the 2025 National Sports Sedans Series.
Having won the first round, Taunton was forced to play second fiddle.
The Holinger Holden Calibra and MARC IRC GT SS went head to head in both races.
They went side by side in Race 2, which kicked off Sunday’s SpeedSeries schedule.
Taunton led the first six laps, but could not shake off Tamasi, who launched a successful attack at Turn 4, the first of just two left-handers at the circuit.

Once in front Tamasi did not look back and took a 2s win, while Michael Rowell kept up his good form with another third place.
Once again, the Audi A4 of Cadel Ambrose could not make the finish of the 13-lap affair, while Ashley Jarvis’ Monaro was out on Lap 2.
Determined to complete a hat-trick, Tamasi saved his best performance for last.
The #9 Holden Calibra led all nine laps and cruised to a commanding 5s triumph.
Taunton was safe in second, but the battle for third was a competitive one.
The two Michaels of Rowell and Robinson tussled throughout the race and shared stints in third.

This time Robinson emerged on top, snaring third five laps from home.
Due to the earlier casualties, only seven cars started, and Tim Tritton in the Honda was the only non-finisher.
After Tamasi shot to the championship lead, Sports Sedans return to Winton on August 22-24.
