Gill to gain crucial miles

Aussie young gun Taylor Gill will boost his Junior World Rally Championship preparations by competing in Portugal.
This weekend Gill and fellow Australian co-driver Daniel Brkic will join the Portuguese Rally Championship in the Ralli Terras d’Aboboreira.
It will be a timely run, given the next Junior World Rally Championship round is at Portugal later this month.
When that arrives, Gill and Brkic will be the hunted having won the Rally Sweden opener in the snow in February.
However, the Aussies will be on the back foot having competed in just two rallies in 2025, whilst their rivals have already done five.
As a result, the Ralli Terras d’Aboboreira will be key, especially with the 69-entry field including WRC drivers such as Kris Meeke, Dani Sordo, Martins Sesks and Yohan Rossel.
“There’s no doubt that this year is the most important in terms of our career progression, and also our best chance yet of winning the Junior World Rally Championship,” Gill said.
“Through the support of our sponsors and Supporters’ Club, we’ve been able to add this event to our calendar, which will be so valuable when we get to Rally de Portugal.
“We need to keep the momentum going after our Sweden win, and choosing to run in this event before Portugal was part of doing just that.
“We need to maximise what we can do, and Portugal is the first round on gravel, so getting back in the groove on that surface is important.
“This rally uses roads in the same areas as the WRC round, so in terms of an ideal test event, it’s pretty close to perfect.”
Ralli Terras d’Aboboreira begins early on Saturday morning AEST and will be decided across 10 special stages.
