PremiAir Racing has expanded its leadership team with Gwyn Dolphin appointed as the new CEO.
Dolphin swims into a newly created role at the growing Supercars squad, working alongside team manager Stephen Robertson, competition director Ludo Lacroix and boss Peter Xiberras.
He will start at the team in early May and bring in plenty of racing experience having first worked at the Bathurst 1000 in 1986.
Dolphin has worked on significant things such as a new F1 Concorde agreement and been at brands such as Toyota, Ford, Nissan, Prodrive and Vodafone when it sponsored Ferrari during the Michael Schumacher glory years.
He is set to make the move from Western Australia to Gold Coast to work closely with PremiAir when he starts the role next month.
“I’m thrilled about the opportunity that lies ahead with PremiAir Racing. Peter Xiberras has proven his commitment to build the team into a successful operation. My role is to add another layer of experience and senior leadership to the organisation, and help accelerate that growth,” he said.
“Supercars is a highly competitive series so we will work relentlessly to find the gains that will help to progress PremiAir Racing to the front of the field.”
As his Supercars squad continues to grow, Xiberras is looking forward to tapping into a new rich source of information.
“With his extensive leadership experience, encompassing high performance and commercial skillsets, Gwyn is going to be a fantastic addition to our team,” Xiberras said.
“Over many years Gwyn has developed high-level manufacturer relationships and managed teams, from 20 staff to more than 100, brokering high level motorsport deals, and ensuring success on and off the track in all manner of sporting disciplines including F1, rally, sportscar, touring car championships and more.
“Working under my direction and overseeing our motorsport activities across the board, Gwyn is going to ensure PremiAir Racing is always best placed to maximise any opportunities that come our way and to be the very best team that we can be.
“I greatly look forward to welcoming him to the team when he officially joins us.”
The appointment comes as PremiAir prepares for the Taupo Super440 next weekend and growing intrigue surrounds who will be the GM homologation team.
PremiAir was a favourite and has been using Roland Dane as a consultant, but an announcement that was scheduled for today has reportedly been pushed back by two weeks.
