Tamasi takes Sports Sedans opener

Steven Tamasi and his Holden Calibra have started the 2025 National Sports Sedan Series on a winning note at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Tamasi comfortably won an attritional affair affair that claimed four victims across the 12 laps.
Brad Shiels again remained second in the Fiat 124 Coupe, while Steven Lacey led the pair of IRC cars that also featured Geoff Taunton.
After taking pole by a huge 1.2s, Tamasi was never headed in the #9 and led the whole way to the chequered flag.
The race took place without the Cadel Ambrose Audi, which is still being repaired.
Many joined him on the sidelines across a tough opener.
Nick Mantikos hit the wall hard coming onto the pit straight, while Michael Robinson had electrical dramas.
Mark Duggan’s Aston Martin suffered a bent rim from a clash at Turn 2, while Nick Smith had a crankcase pressure sensor came out of the block.
The second Sports Sedans race is at 11.25 AEDT Sunday morning.
Reigning champion Joel Heinrich has enjoyed the perfect start to 2025 by putting car #1 in P1 for the first two races.
Despite Kody Garland putting the first Triple Eight built car on pole, Garland snuck ahead by just 0.4s at the chequered flag with a lightening start the key.
It was a close finish in Masters Cup between Mckay and Osborn as the latter climbing 10 positions in the opening race where five cars failed to finish.
Heinrich enjoyed a calmer drive in the second race, winning by 2s over Garland.
Whilst the positions remained the same, the fight for runner-up honours was a thriller with just a tenth the difference.
This time there was a lot more attrition with six cars failing to finish, including Reese Chapman.
Scott Dornan was fourth, while Jack Boyd made it into the top five for Johnston Craill Racing.
Charlie Parker enjoyed his moment by winning the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia Scholarship Series opener of the second round.
Parker opened up a solid 3s buffer on Jordan Freestone, while Alice Buckley impressed to appear on the podium.
Just four tenths split second and third in a tight tussle as only Isaac Demellweek and Otis Sands were the only DNFs.
