Track to Town back at Taupo

Taupo track to town 2024

By Thomas Miles

After a successful debut last year, the Taupo Super400 will again kick off with the fans at the Track to Town activation.

Last year Taupo was the first location to begin a Supercars round with all cars taking part in a Track to Town event and it was a success.

It will return with all 24 cars driving from Taupo International Motorsport Park to the town’s riverside precinct where the fans will be waiting.

The 12km journey to the Roberts Street site will begin at 15.45 AEDT on Thursday, April 10, the day before on track action begins.

Supercars General Manager of Motorsport Tim Edwards said it was a no brainer.

“We are sincerely grateful to the Taupō District Council for their unwavering support in making this unique event possible,” he said.

“The Track to Town journey is an exciting project that brings the Supercars experience right to the heart of Taupō, and we could not be more thrilled to showcase our sport in such a vibrant community.

“We invite fans to join us at the live site and at vantage points along the way, as Supercars take to the streets against the breathtaking backdrop of Taupō.”

It will single the start of the second round at Taupo after a successful debut last year where Andre Heimgartner won in the wet and Will Brown hunted down his teammate, while Anton De Pasquale won the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy.

The event will be held from April 11-13.
