Van Gisbergen to race the stars and stripes

As Shane van Gisbergen continues his NASCAR Cup Series journey, he will fully embrace America at Homestead Miami this weekend.
For this weekend’s Straight Talk Wireless 400, Van Gisbergen’s #88 Trackhouse Racing Camaro will be draped in the American flag for the first time with Jockey the major sponsor.
The Kiwi has never started a Cup Series race at 1.5 mile oval, but finished 17th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race last year.

Now in his second season since moving from Australia to America, the livery could be a sign of how SVG has embraced life in the USA.
“I’ve always dreamed of racing in America, especially in NASCAR, it’s the pinnacle of stock car racing in the entire world,” van Gisbergen said.
“It’s the biggest challenge I’ve ever raced in my career, so I’m putting every effort into driving these cars and racing against these drivers.
“I’m having a blast doing it. Excited to be behind the wheel of the No. 88 Jockey Chevrolet this weekend and I’m hoping for a great result.”
Van Gisbergen is looking forward to seeing how the Cup car drives on the on the four-degreed banked oval.
“I really like the different variety of tracks,” he said.
“It’s a different style of track every week and a new challenge. I think that’s good because it’s not the same style of track every week.
“I am excited for Homestead this weekend. I’ve never been there in a Cup car, so I’m looking forward to seeing what that’s like. Looks like a cool but challenging track.”
The race begins at 6.00 AEDT on Monday, March 24.
