SPEEDSERIES TO REMAIN

THE SPEEDSERIES will remain part of Australian motorsport with the new SRO run tour to carry it through 2025.
SRO Motorsports Australia took over the SpeedSeries from Motorsport Australia at the end of 2024 and have given it a fresh look.
Importantly Shannons will also carry on naming rights sponsorship to ensure that whilst it will be a new era, it will have a familiar feel.
The Shannons SpeedSeries platform first arrived in 2006 and became known as the SpeedSeries in 2022.
A new chapter is starting in 2025 with SRO Motorsports Australia in charge and GT World Challenge Australia the headline act rather than TCR.
GT4 Australia will also be at every round, while Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia, First Focus Radical Cup Australia and Ferrari Challenge Australasia will also feature prominently when it begins at Phillip Island on April 4-6.
SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan said it was important to retain the famous name.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to retain the Shannons SpeedSeries name in 2025 and continue this series’ great legacy,” said McMellan.
“The Shannons SpeedSeries name carries significant credibility and familiarity within the Australian motorsport community and we believe it was important to integrate it into the new era led by SRO Motorsports Australia.
“Keeping the name emphasises our commitment to building a new platform centred around our GT identity and paying homage to the rich history and character of the Shannons SpeedSeries — something we endeavour to contribute to in the years to come.
“A big thank you to the team at Shannons Insurance, whose continued support for the latest iteration of the SpeedSeries highlights its commitment to Australian motorsport and our shared vision of taking an already-great product to the next level.”
