Volante Rosso to bring Aston Martin to Bathurst

By Thomas Miles

Volante Rosso Motorsport will bring a factory backed Aston Martin to the 2025 Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.

The Sydney team will bring its Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to the Mount Panorama stage at the end of January with a driver line up yet to be finalised.

It will mark the first time the famous British brand will be taking on the 12 Hour since 2020 when Roman De Angelis, Oliver Hart and Andrew Watson finished 13th.

The team’s Aston Martin connection started last year when it purchased the Vantage and started an official factory partnership with Aston Martin Racing.

The car was seen at a handful of GT World Challenge Australia rounds last year.

The Volante Rosso team, headed by Chris Papadopoulos and Josh Hunt, are no strangers to the event having got a class podium in 2023 with 11th overall.

Having got a taste of what the Vantage is capable of, Hunt is looking forward to unleashing it on the mountain.

“We are really looking forward to getting back to Bathurst for the 12 Hour,” said Hunt.

“The race is one of the highlights of the Australian and international motorsport calendar and for our team, we feel proud and privileged to be involved.

“We only raced a handful of events with the Aston Martin last year, and we feel we have got a good handle on its character and performance.

“The final make-up of the driver line-up and the look of the car is coming together, and we can’t wait to reveal the details of our Bathurst attack.”
