Trans Am Mallala ‘homecoming’ confirmed

The 2025 Trans Am calendar has been locked in with the historic Mallala circuit to stage a memorable penultimate round.
As expected, Mallala will host the sixth and penultimate round of the season as part of a South Australian doubleheader with Adelaide.
The November 21-22 meeting will be a celebratory occasion and will be a twilight meeting.

It will see a return of national championship racing to Mallala, which like The Bend is owned by the Shahin family.
The 2.6km circuit situated 55km north of Adelaide last hosted Supercars in 1998 and held the 1961 Australian Grand Prix won by Lex Davison.
It will be the first national level event at Mallala in a number of years, having recently held state events.
The news was confirmed in a passionate release from The Bend, which was named as a “letter to motorsport fans” where it stated its desire to bring Mallala to new heights.
63 years ago, out of an abandoned airfield in Mallala, South Australia rose a circuit that for generations of drivers and fans would be considered home.
A venue that blended heritage and resilience, providing a place for up-and-coming racers and seasoned veterans, shaping careers and creating iconic moments along the way.
It hosted the Australian Grand Prix. It was the birthplace of Godzilla. It saw The Kid seal his first V8 crown, and it helped the Enforcer cut his teeth to eventually become an Australian Motorsport legend.
Then one day, that all stopped. The sport moved on.
Mallala’s contemporaries – circuits like Adelaide International, Oran Park and Amaroo are long gone.
Lost to the sport as they made way for residential developments and the prioritisation of temporary circuits.

You’d be forgiven for thinking Motorsport had forgotten about Mallala too. But we never did.
That’s why, on November 21-22, 2025, together with Trico Trans Am, we’re bringing National competition and the rumble of V8’s back, under lights for the Hi-Tec Oils Mallala Homecoming.
This is more than a race. It’s a reminder of why motorsport matters.
A celebration of a place and the people behind it – drivers who give it their all, who make the impossible possible, and you – the fans, who fuel our love for this sport.
We’ve always known that motorsport has the power to inspire, unite, and entertain, and we are committed to ensuring that the next chapter of this great venue is even better than what came before it.
We believe Mallala’s best days are ahead of us.
After all, for so many this is still South Australia’s Home of Motorsport.
