TCR confirms 2025 calendar

By Thomas Miles

TCR Australia has locked in an international debut in a five-round calendar for a “revitalised era” in 2025.

As reported by AUTO ACTION TCR Australia will go racing overseas for the first time with the opening round in New Zealand, while a return to the TCR World Tour is also locked in.

The season begins with a bang alongside the Supercars at the twisty and scenic Taupo in April.

Another first will arrive in the second round where the category heads to Wanneroo for the first time, also with the Supercars.

The halfway mark of the season will arrive at Winton where TCR headlines the returning Race Winton event after a year off.

A return to the Supercars stage arrives at the Bend where the local series will also race alongside the TCR World Tour.

It will be a landmark occasion as the two categories were supposed to share the track in 2024, but that did not happen.

The Australian series will then continue to follow the World Tour for an international finale in November at a to be announced venue.

Whilst it is unclear where that would be, it is believed the famous streets of Macau are likely to play host.

The 2025 season is a new era for TCR with the SpeedSeries no more and the category racing at either Supercars, ARG and World Tour events rather than the new SRO series.

TCR Australia Category Manager Lisa Totani has described the 2025 seas as the start of a new chapter.

“The 2025 calendar delivers a revitalised era for TCR Australia, putting the global touring car category in the spotlight of more Australian and international motor racing fans,” he said.

“We are delighted to join the Supercars Championship at three rounds in 2025 and welcome back the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour to the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, which is a clear favourite amongst teams and drivers.

“I look forward to working closely with WSC, as part of a strengthened relationship between WSC Group and TCR Australia, to showcase the unpredictable and entertaining racing that underpins TCR.”

WSC President Marcello Lotti has highlighted the strong relationship with TCR Australia.

“After sealing the deal to bring the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour back to Australia for the event at The Bend, we have looked into the possibility to further extend our friendly co-operation with TCR Australia,” he said.

“We are delighted to announce that this has led to the addition of a second joint event in our respective calendars.

“We are also pleased with the co-operation TCR Australia has established with the Supercars Championship, as this will contribute to reinforce the popularity and visibility of TCR competition in the country.”
