Jones to race mean machine at Bathurst

Jones 2024 Bathurst

By Thomas Miles

Macauley Jones and Jordan Boys will race a mean looking machine thanks to a new livery for the Bathurst 1000.

The #96 Brad Jones Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has gone from white to black to promote Venon: The Last Dance and Jones and Boys hopes the scary look will put fear into their rivals.

It continues a running theme of special liveries for Jones having previously raced in Spongebob and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Jones and Boys are a familiar duo as 2024 will be their third consecutive Great Race together since 2022.

Their best result was 13th in the wet 2022 race, while they could only manage 22nd last year after a teammate tangle at The Chase.

Jones sits 21st in the championship with a best result of 16th so far this year at Symmons Plains.

“I am blown away by how amazing this car looks – the Venom: The Last Dance details look sick and the black-to-white down the car is such a cool effect,” Jones said.

“I remember Venom from when I was a kid playing video games and to have this epic Marvel character on a race car is something else. Pizza Hut and Sony Pictures have taken it to another level.

“Coming into Bathurst with a new livery is a good way to start what is always a special week.

“Jordan (Boys, co-driver) and I come here looking for a bit of a fresh start after Sandown. The car had pace and we could see the potential there.

“We’ll take that confidence to the Mountain and see what happens.”

The 2024 Bathurst 1000 begins on Thursday.
