Power ready for IndyCar title fight

Australia’s Will Power is ready to have a crack at snatching the IndyCar title from Alex Palou’s grasp in the Nashville finale this weekend.
The cards are in Palou’s favour as he enjoys a 33-point lead over Power, whilst Kiwi Scott McLaughlin is still a distant shot 50 points adrift.
But all eyes are on his Australian teammate, who has never given up on chasing a third IndyCar crown.
It already has been a big year for Power, who broke through for a first win in two years at Road America.
But further wins at Iowa and Portland propelled his title challenge.
Power is no stranger to a championship showdown, having led the way into the final round on five occasions and converting twice.
One of the unsuccessful occasions was 2012 when Power crashed against the #10 of Ryan Hunter Ray.
Now finding himself in the same situation against the same number, he would love to get redemption.
“That would be funny,” Power said.
“It would be a big repay if that actually happens.
“Palou is a serious contender, man.
“Nothing can rattle that guy. Very tough to go head-to-head with him.
“We’ll do our best when we go there.
“It sucks going to the final race without a chance at all.
“It’s always good to be one of the ones that is in the game. You have a shot. I wish we were a little closer.”
The 2024 IndyCar title will be decided with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at 4.45am AEST Monday, September 16 broadcast on Stan Sport.
