Pye pumped after pre-enduro test

Scott Pye

By Thomas Miles

Scott Pye knows the massive opportunities that lie ahead driving the championship-leading car and he is in a good space following the pre-enduro test.

For the first time since 2012, Pye is off the full-time Supercars grid, but landed the plumb seat alongside Will Brown in the #87 Camaro.

As a result, the 34-year-old finds himself in the best position to chase victory in the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 enduros.

Like many teams, Triple Eight staged a test session on Tuesday and both Brown and Pye could not be happier with how it went.

Even though he has two Bathurst 1000 podiums for WAU and done minimal racing in 2024, Pye believes he is heading into the enduros better than ever as he lines up as a co driver for the first time since racing a LDM Commodore with Taz Douglas 12 years ago.

“I feel really good and confident now getting this test day under my belt,” Pye said.

“We’ve got plenty of laps in, got a good race run under my belt and then focused on some speed as well.

“I am just looking forward to getting to Sandown now. It’s been a very long time between drinks.

“I’m impressed with the team and to experience a co-driver test day with a team like Triple Eight has been an eye-opener and I feel very prepared, which is nice considering I haven’t raced main game this year.

“I feel like going into Sandown, I’m as well as prepared as I’ve ever been for racing.

“I’ve needed this break and turn up to two events a year with a real opportunity of doing well is what I’ve been wanting, so rather than turn up to all of them with no hope, I was very excited about this opportunity.

“I feel like I’ve put my best foot forward – I feel fit, I feel healthy, and I’m motivated to get back in a race car, which is the main thing.”
