Edwards skips Symmons Plains

Tim Edwards

By Thomas Miles

Supercars Head of Motorsport Tim Edwards will miss this weekend’s Tasmanian SuperSprint with James Delzoppo standing in.

Edwards will miss the eighth round of the 2024 season to spend time with his family as the engine testing carries on in the USA.

The former Tickford boss stepped up to the role at the end of 2023 as Adrian Burgess’ replacement.

Delzoppo is also a relative newcomer to the Supercars team, having joined the category as Motorsport Operations Manager at the start of 2024.

“Supercars can advise that James Delzoppo will be acting in the role of General Manager of Motorsport this weekend at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint,” a Supercars spokesperson confirmed.

“James is stepping in for Tim Edwards, who will not attend the event, and will stay with family.

“James has an extensive background in overseeing various motorsport disciplines, and has already contributed to the business since joining Supercars this year as the new Motorsport Operations Manager.”
