The one Tasmania objective for Brown

Supercars championship leader Will Brown has one objective for this weekend’s Tasmania SuperSprint, which is to “beat Chaz.”

Whilst Brown continues to lead the chase for the 2024 Supercars title, it is Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert, who has all the momentum.

Mostert swept last start in Sydney to be the first driver to snap Triple Eight’s grip on the top two in the standings by knocking off Broc Feeney from second.

Now the WAU driver has Brown in his sights being 105 points away, but the #87 is desperate to fire the next blow at Symmons Plains.

After two disappointing rounds at Townsville and SMP, Triple Eight staged a test day that went perfectly to plan.

Brown hopes the session can propel his team back to the top, but he is only worried about beating his nearest rival.

“It was good to have a test day after Sydney and it definitely gave us a few more tools for our toolbox. Hopefully we can take them to Tasmania and beat Chaz,” Brown told Supercars.

Brown arrives at a circuit that has been a happy hunting ground.

On his first trip to Symmons Plains he finished in the top 10 on all three occasions in the third round of his rookie 2021 season.

Although he could not achieve the same result once in 2022, he fired back to form in the Apple Isle big time last year.

The then Erebus driver took two wins and a third in the first and only time he has taken multiple wins within the one round.

“Tasmania has been good to me,” Brown said.

“Last year I won two of the races there, so that was fantastic and hopefully we can replicate that this year.

“I always find the track good fun. It is a small track but also quite technical, so you have to put your best foot forward just because of how tight qualifying times are around there.”
