The first piece of the 2025 Supercars Championship calendar is locked in with the dates set for a return to Taupo.
The 2025 Taupo Super400 will be held on April 11-13, a week earlier than the highly successful maiden trip to the 3.32km circuit.
Supercars returned to New Zealand in April 2024 in front of a sold-out crowd of 67,411.
The maiden trip to Taupo will always be memorable having kicked off with the championship’s first Track to Town held in front of the Tapuaeharuru Lakefront Reserve.
When the cars hit the track for the first time it was special with Kiwi Andre Heimgartner fittingly winning a dramatically wet home race.
The skies cleared come Sunday and the Triple Eight teammates Broc Feeney and Will Brown put on a show fighting for the lead with the latter being victorious.
The special inaugural race cemented Taupo as the replacement for the now defunct Pukekohe as Supercars new New Zealand home.
A return trip using the same 2x 200km format will be staged in early April.
It will likely be round 3 of an expanded 2025 season which is expected to grow to 14 rounds.
Supercars CEO Shane Howard expects the event only to grow after a strong start.
“The 2024 ITM Taupo Super400 was a landmark event for Supercars and motorsport in New Zealand,” he said.
“The energy and passion of the fans were incredible, and we are committed to delivering an even better experience in 2025.
“We urge all fans to join the ticketing waiting list as soon as possible to ensure they don’t miss out on what promises to be another spectacular event.”
“This year’s ITM Taupō Super400 proved to be a huge success, providing an economic boost to
Taupō and the surrounding regions, Economic Development Minister Melissa Lee said.
“This is the power of major events, and we can’t wait to see an even bigger and better ITM Taupō Super400 return to New Zealand in 2025.”
“Following on from the success of last year’s sellout event, we are raring to go to welcome the Supercars team back again for the 2025 ITM Super400, Taupō District Council Mayor David Trewavas said.
“We look forward to once again welcoming visitors and racing enthusiasts from all over, as we showcase the vibrant Taupō District and the hospitality we are known for.
“Let’s gear up for an unforgettable experience and make the 2025 ITM Super400 event the best one yet!”
“The Supercars team did a brilliant job in 2024, and we are well in to planning with them to raise the bar even higher in 2025,” said Taupo owner Tony Quinn.
“They can count on our team in NZ playing their part and we can’t wait to welcome new and old fans back to April in 2025 for another unforgettable weekend.”
Fans are encouraged to join the ticketing waiting list on Supercars.com now to secure their grandstands, general admission and corporate hospitality tickets.

It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
