GT World Challenge to head to NZ

By Thomas Miles

SRO Australia has been one of the first to reveal its 2025 racing plans which feature a New Zealand finale for the GT World Challenge Australia.

SRO Motorsports Group has revealed a provisional calendar for the 2025 GT World Challenge Australia and GT4 Australia seasons.

Six rounds will be held from the Phillip Island opener at the start of April to the international finale at Hampton Downs in the first weekend of November.

Before the first round a media/test day will be held on March 25 at the same seaside circuit as the season opener on April 4-6.

A month later the season heads to Sydney Motorsport Park, whilst round 3 is the only unknown being a TBC in June.

After two months the championship fires back up with an August trip to Queensland Raceway, while the penultimate round will be staged at The Bend Motorsport Park in September ahead of the trip to New Zealand.

The provisional calendar was revealed in front of media at the ongoing 24 Hours of Spa, while further details such as 2025 race formats will be revealed.

“We have worked closely with the circuits and other stakeholders, including Supercars and Motorsport Australia, to get our calendars confirmed in preparation for the global announcement here at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa,” said SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan.

“We are very excited by the addition of Hampton Downs to the 2025 calendar. We are pleased to confirm that SRO Australia will offer a substantial contribution towards logistic and freight costs for the event.”
