Safety Car joins Indigenous Round festivities

By Thomas Miles

The Supercars Safety Car has joined in on the Indigenous Round fun with a special livery for the 2024 Darwin Triple Crown.

It continues the tradition of the Safety Car running special liveries to mark the Indigenous Round just like in 2022 and 2023, while this year it will also be seen at the following Townsville 500.

The artwork on the bp pulse Porsche Taycan GTS has been designed by Cheryl Martin, a Noongar woman from Western Australia, in collaboration with Yonga Solutions, an Indigenous-owned and operated creative agency.

Martin’s family has ties to Safety Car sponsor bp back to the 1950s when her father worked at its Kwinana refinery in WA.

The artwork artwork symbolizes change, resilience, and connection to the land and its fauna.

“My artwork tells a story of change, resilience, and the connection to our country,” she said.

“It’s an honour to see my work featured in bp’s RAP and to share my culture with a wider audience.”

“The Indigenous livery is a beautiful representation of our commitment to celebrating Indigenous Round,” Supercars General Manager Commercial Jamie Black said.
