The Melbourne Indigenous Transition School has once again designed the livery Penrite Racing will showcase at Darwin.
Two Year 9 students from MITS in Emma and Hoanna have come up with a design that is sprinkled around the two Penrite Racing Mustangs.
Both Kiwi drivers Richie Stanaway and Matt Payne will race with these colours on Larrakia Country next weekend.
MITS have designed all three of Penrite Racing’s Indigenous Round liveries since 2022.
Grove Racing CEO Brenton Grove was delighted to provide the two youngsters with an opportunity to see their artwork go racing.
“The Indigenous round is a key highlight of the year for Penrite Racing,” he said.
“We love the opportunity to learn more about the students at MITS and the path they’ve taken to end up collaborating with us on such a special livery. “We’re really excited to hit the track and show the incredible artwork of Emma and Hoanna.”
The honour was not lost on MITS student Emma either with the artwork mirroring “personal stories and cultural ties.”
“I feel so proud and excited that Hoanna and my artwork is going to be going around a racetrack,” she said.
“It’s a very special track that my family and I have visited for as long as I can remember, so this is a very exciting thing for me!”
Penrite Racing started 2024 with plenty of pace, fighting for top fives, podiums and even wins across the first three rounds.
However, they were not quite up to the same pace at Wanneroo and will be desperate to avoid a repeat of 2023 where it recorded only one top 20 result.
Both Payne and Stanaway are looking forward to racing with these colours.
“I’m incredibly proud and excited to unveil our team’s new indigenous livery. It’s an honour to represent Indigenous culture in motorsport, and I look forward to racing with it in Darwin,” Stanaway said.
“It’s fantastic to see our team’s collaboration with MITS come to life through this amazing livery. Racing with it in Darwin is a special opportunity, and I’m proud to be a part of it,” Payne said.
The Darwin Triple Crown will be held on June 14-16.
