The scheduled SpeedSeries doubleheader at Queensland Raceway will now be the single, standalone event on August 2-4.
The original SpeedSeries calendar had a first trip to the “Paperclip” on July 12-14 before a return trip with different categories three weeks later.
But with a lack of racing categories to cater for two events and financial concerns, everything will be squeezed onto the August weekend.
As a result, TCR and Trans Am will race alongside GT World Challenge Australia, GT4 Australia, Porsche Sprint Challenge, Australian Formula Open and TGRA Scholarship Series.
The SpeedSeries just held its latest round at The Bend last weekend and the tweak to the Queensland Raceway schedule means there will be two months between race meetings.
In a statement Motorsport Australia citied its concerns of staging two Queensland Raceway rounds as “unviable.”
“Motorsport Australia made the decision to combine the rounds following the withdrawal of categories,” read the MA statement.
“And while there were attempts made to find different categories to fill the void, these options did not materialise, making the event unviable in its current state given the rising costs and associated logistics of hosting national level motorsport.”
Fans who had already purchased tickets for the July event will have their ticket transferred to the August event or receive a full refund on request.
Shane van Gisbergen won his first Xfinity Series race on the weekend in Portland, a week before Cam Waters and Will Brown join him as Cup Series drivers. The NASCAR racing was typically entertaining too.
