How Seton has helped growing Trans Am team

By Thomas Miles

Boosted by the engineering intellect of Australian racing legend Glenn Seton, Dream Racing Australia will expand to three cars for this weekend’s Trans Am battle at The Bend.

Regular drivers Jackson Rice and Josh Webster have been joined by Lee Stibbs as Dream Racing Australia takes aim at the first Trans Am round at the South Australian circuit.

Stibbs has raced in Trans Am before with one round at Sandown last year where he had a best finish of 11th, while he also has experience with Dream Racing Australia at TA2 level.

For the trip to The Bend, the team has been boosted by the presence of Seton, who will provide engineering assistance from the garage.

his first appearance with the team was at a recent TA2 round at SMP, while this weekend will be his first Trans Am meeting.

All three drivers have already felt an impact from the two-time Supercars/ATCC champion.

“It’s going to be our first round working with Glenn and it’s going to be awesome working with a Supercars legend. Hopefully we can hit the ground running and find some mojo,” Webster said.

“We’ve had a couple of phone calls since Phillip Island, but The Bend will be the first time physically working together, which hopefully we can find some pace.

“Glenn has earmarked some driver technique changes on Friday making practice more important and I’ll fine tune these across the weekend.

“Glenn is no stranger to these cars, so not only will he be able to help with the set-up side of things, but also a fantastic driver coach and I’m looking forward to embracing it.

“He knows what it takes and what needs to be done to make it at the top, so to be able to lean on him with advice it’s going to be good for the team.”

“I’ve worked closely with him when the team raced at the TA2 round and to watch Glenn in his element is next level,” Rice continued.

“He’s a legend in the sport in his own right, but he was also successful in this category as a car preparer and engineer in its early days.

“To work alongside Glenn, watch how he works and pick his brain about some of our ideas is really cool. It’s exciting for me in my personal development and building a set-up.

“To work with Glenn brings fresh life to the team and will put us in good stead.”

“Glenn’s influence was duly noted at the meeting last month and certainly helped throughout the weekend, but we all gelled well during the event,” Stibbs said.

“Working with the team was great and all the one percent items, which will be important as the category continues to evolve forward.

“If I can have a good home race, stay out of trouble within reason and do my best to keep up with the pack it’ll be a good weekend.”
