Fresh look for Will Brown NASCAR debut

By Thomas Miles

The Richard Childress Racing #33 NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet will adopt a fresh paint scheme when Will Brown steers it around Sonoma.

After Brodie Kostecki drove an all black livery at Indianapolis last year, Brown’s 2024 scheme has a new approach with the program having a new driver and new track in 2024.

With MobileX being joined by Motorola and Shaw and Partners, the familiar black and green has been joined by a splash of white over the front.

A number of other Australian brands are also featured around the car including SCTR, Quad Lock and even Supercars itself.

Brown will join fellow Supercars star Cameron Waters at making their NASCAR debuts at the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday, June 9.

Shane van Gisbergen will carry on his NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign with Kaulig Racing that weekend.

Speaking at last weekend’s Perth SuperSprint, Brown hopes the NASCAR experience can strengthen his Supercars Championship campaign.

“Mine has probably been on the cards for four weeks, it came about pretty quickly with Richard Childress,” Brown said.

“I did a race there with them last year at COTA and I guess I had a pretty good start to the year here with Supercars and thought I could probably reach out again and see if there was any opportunities over there.

“I was able to get a deal done which was awesome, to race over there will be great. Hopefully I can get more experiences and more knowledge and bring it back here as well — it’s pretty cool to do a NASCAR race.

“I started talking to Cam and he said he’s doing it as well and I thought ‘that will be pretty cool’. Hopefully we can have a good race over there and have a good time.”
