FORMULA 4 CHAMPIONSHIP CHANGE PENDING

By Auto Action

The third round of the Australian FIA Formula 4 Championship, scheduled for Queensland Raceway, is expected to be moved, likely to be replaced by an additional round at Sepang, in Malaysia later in the series.

Suggestions from some sources, and an earlier report by AA, that an additional round may be replaced have been strongly discounted by leading F4 team owner Adam Gotch (AGi Racing), whose drivers made up a significant number of the entries at the opening round of the series, at The Bend last month.

“Definitely not,” Gotch told AA.

“We are looking to move the Queensland round to Sepang – that is our suggestion and a request has gone to the FIA/Motorsport Australia to that effect, but that’s the only change that is being made. Everything is going along exactly as planned, with that one possible change.”

The Australian F4 series is being promoted by Chinese-based promotions group Top Speed, which has run the hugely successful Formula 4 UAE Championship in January/February each year for the last eight years with full 30-car-plus grids for its five round series, at Yas Marina and Dubai. (From 2025, the series is to be rebranded as the F4 Middle East Championship).

Auto Action had sought clarification of the change with the series promoter, Top Speed, but has yet to receive a response.

However, AGi’s Adam Gotch is certainly seen as the group’s local representative and thus able to confirm the situation.
