AGI Sport heads to America

By Thomas Miles

Australian global open-wheel team AGI Sport is expanding its fleet to America and will compete in the US F4 Championship.

Spearheading the American assault will be 15-year-old Nicholas Stati, who will drive a Ligier JS F422 car with assistance from Texas based Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport.

The 2024 US F4 Championship kicks off this weekend at Road America and Stati will be one of three Australians on the grid alongside Alex Crosbie and Connor Roberts.

AGI Sport’s Adam Gotch was proud to announce the expansion and believes America is a “natural fit” for the reigning Asian F4 champions.

“I was fortunate enough to be race engineer to last year’s US F4 champion Patrick Woods-Toth with Crosslink-Kiwi,” he said.

“So it was a natural fit to take on a new car this season with our own branding and Australian driver behind the wheel.

“Nicolas is competing in multiple F4 programs around the world with us so he was a natural fit to take on the US championship.

“Well known Australian race car livery designer Tim Pattison of TP Design has created a fantastic version our of AGI Sport F4 design to suit the new Ligier F4 car for this market.”

Stati took part in the recent return of Australian F4 at the Bend and finished third behind dominant teammate James Piszcyk.

Stati kicked off his AGI Sport career in the last two rounds of the SE Asian F4 Championship, being fifth in the rookie standings which included an outright win in the penultimate race of the championship.

He also raced in the 2024 UAE F4 season and finished 33rd as one of the younger drivers.

This weekend is the first of five rounds with trips to Mid-Ohio, New Jersey, Bowmanville and COTA to follow.
