RB unveil stunning “Chameleon” livery for Miami GP

By Reese Mautone

RB has revealed the “unique, colour-shifting” livery that the team will run in this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, with the eye-catching design inspired by the Cash App Visa Chameleon Card’s rainbow colour scheme.

In collaboration with Visa and Cash App, RB’s design and paint team has near-replicated the “oil slick” multi-coloured pattern that features on the Chameleon Card.

Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will be two of the most noticeable drivers on the grid this weekend, with their VCARB 01s featuring an ombre of yellow, pink, purple and blue inspired by the vibrance of the Floridian city of Miami.

The team revealed the livery at an event held at a car wash in Wynwood, a prominent arts district in Miami, celebrating alongside RB’s F1 Academy Driver, Amna Al Qubaisi who will also be sporting the Chameleon livery for the second round of the all-female category this weekend.

Peter Bayer, CEO of Visa Cash App RB Team said the livery is the “perfect colour scheme for our first race in the US”.

“Since the team’s Las Vegas launch in February, we’ve taken some big steps forward, and we’re bringing fans on an exciting new journey,” he said.

“That desire to progress and connect is shared with Visa and Cash App who are bringing people together in the sport through experiences that are unlike anything else out there.

“This incredible livery and the events surrounding its launch here in Miami demonstrate their commitment to the team and F1, and we can’t wait to see the Chameleon VCARB 01 in action this weekend.”

The CMO of Cash App, Catherine Ferdon, seconded Bayer’s excitement, saying that the brand has “high hopes for our team on race day”.

RB will run a stunning “Chameleon” livery in Miami.

“It’s important for us to engage with the racing community and enhance the fan experience in real life,” she said.

“Whether that’s at one of our in-city pop-ups or art installations, or through an exclusive discount, we’re committed to supporting the growing culture of the sport in the US through this partnership.

“We’re especially revved up to unveil the Cash App Visa Card-themed livery – a physical embodiment of the team’s name – and have high hopes for our team on race day.”

It was a disastrous end to RB’s weekend in China, with both cars retiring after sustaining damage in separate Saftey Car-related incidents.

The team currently sit sixth in the constructors’ championship thanks to Tsunoda’s points-scoring efforts in Australia and Japan, with Ricciardo looking to get the ball rolling in Miami to avoid further internal and external scrutiny.

The team join Ferrari in running an alternate livery this weekend, with the Italian rival celebrating their 70th anniversary on North American soil with hints of the traditional Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino blues.

We’re back from our weekend in Taupo (Tow Paw), and what an unbelievable first weekend for that venue. It was, we felt, the start of this season, too, despite it being the third round. Andrew and Bruce were there, and PG was on the couch.

Brodie Kostecki was back for Erebus, Andre Heimgartner won for Brad Jones Racing, and Will Brown battled his teammate Broc Feeney for the other win. Anton De Pasquale also won the Jason Richards Trophy for the best performer over the two races – is Dick Johnson Racing back?
