New paint scheme for van Gisbergen

van Gisbergen

By Thomas Miles

Shane van Gisbergen will head to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend with a completely new livery on his #97 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

For the NASCAR Xfinity Series ANDY’S FROZEN CUSTARD 300 at Texas Motor Speedway this Sunday morning, van Gisbergen will be racing a blue Camaro backed by WWEX Group.

It is the Kiwi’s third livery of his growing NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie season, having competed in the majority of races in the white WeatherTech scheme.

Van Gisbergen also swapped paint schemes for Phoenix where he raced with Safety Culture colours on his way to a strong sixth place.

Van Gisbergen currently sits 13th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship as the second highest rookie with 156 points.

The Kiwis best result remains the impressive third he took amid the fuel-saving mayhem at Atlanta, however, he did cross the line second at Circuit of Americas only to get penalised for corner cutting.

He is fresh from getting accustomed to the aggressive style of racing around the tight Martinsville where he emerged from the chaos in a respectable 11th and “loved it”.

Texas Motor Speedway is one of the major quad-oval intermediate speedways on the NASCAR circuit with Toyota winning four of the last five NASCAR Xfinity Series races there.

The Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 begins at 3.30 AEST on Sunday, April 13.
