Alpine launch stripped-back F1 livery

By Reese Mautone

BWT Alpine F1 Team have presented their duel livery design ahead of a record-breaking 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season.

The French team, spearheaded by the all-French driver lineup of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, showed off their new-look challengers at their Motorsport Launch event in Enstone last night.

Being the most involved of any car company in FIA racing, Alpine also revealed the liveries of their World Endurance Championship challenger, the A424 Hypercar, featuring the traditional Alpine blue and the patriotic colours of the French flag.

“It’s a great moment for Alpine Motorsports to come together and officially present its programmes for the 2024 season,” Alpine Team Principal, Bruno Famin said.

“To see both the real cars here today is testament to all the hard work conducted behind the scenes at our factories from our thousands of talented employees in the United Kingdom and in France.

“The next stage on our journey is deploying everything to the track, applying operational excellence across the board and growing a greater dynamic and mindset from all our teams.

“We are all very much looking forward to continuing the hard work to bring the Alpine name success.”

The A524 will primairly feature the BWT logo, Alpine’s title sponsor for three years running.

According to Matt Harman, Technical Director at Alpine, the team is said to be taking an “aggressive but deliberate” approach when it comes to their engineering philosophy for the next two seasons before the 2026 change in technical regulations.

“We are creating a wider scope to add performance to the car,” Harman said.

“We’ve built ourselves a strong platform to add performance when we can and we have set ourselves targets to deliver those.

“We have pushed some elements to the limit and, in some cases, beyond that. That is all in line with our approach and exactly what we have set out to achieve in progressing this project to the best possible level.”

Cosmetically speaking, the F1 car features more carbon fibre than last year’s primarily blue chassis, with the team’s title sponsor BWT showcased in full effect along with its premium partners BP, Castrol, and Renault E-Tech.

The livery was designed in collaboration with contemporary artist Felipe Pantone, bringing a fresh and unique look to the A524’s design.

The black base allows the traditional Alpine blue to stand out, painted alongside the now world-renowned pink colours of BWT.

The team will, however, run two liveries across the season, with an inverted pink colour scheme set to run across 8 rounds in 2024.

Gasly and Ocon, in their second season as teammates, will kickstart their year in the A524 with a shakedown on February 20th before three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain from 21-23 February.

The duo are eager to get into the car for the first time, with Esteban Ocon expressing his excitement at the launch.

“It goes without saying that I am super excited for the season and I cannot wait to jump back in the car and go racing again,” the #31 said.

“As a driver, it’s a goosebumps moment when you jump in a new car for the first time and release the pit limiter. That time is close now with the A524 and I really cannot wait to get started.”

Pierre Gasly was also eyeing off the A524 as he heads into the season in a “much better place” than 12 months ago.

“I’m feeling confident with the team I have around me,” the #10 said.

“We have all been developing over the last year. Now I am confident that I can attack the season straight away and maximise the full potential of the team.”

The first official round of the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season will then take place in Bahrain just a week later as the first event of a record-breaking 24 races.
