Inglis moves into WA Sprintcar Series lead

James Inglis has taken top spot from Dayne Kingshott in the 2023/24 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series after his podium effort in the WA Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex on the weekend.
Whilst the defending series champion couldn’t get it done in a flag-heavy state title race across 35 laps at the Perth Motorplex, his P2 to Aussie World of Outlaws star James McFadden was enough to put him into the series lead with slender 12 point advantage.
Inglis’s Diamond Bay Motorsport W26 machine was hooked up for the finale, but despite Inglis managing to gap McFadden several times in the feature, the constant stoppages put paid to his effort as McFadden prevailed in the Williams Motorsport W3.

Although he’ll have to wait for another year to attempt a maiden WA Sprintcar Championship, after four rounds Inglis’s A-main record stands at one win, two second’s and a sixth to put him on 868 points, with a DNF in the feature from Kingshott leaving him on 856 points – Kingshott has two victories to his name in 2023.
Third on the night and now third in the series also leaves former champion Jason Kendrick only 34 points in arrears of Inglis after taking his first podium of the season.
Fourth overall is another former series champion in Brad Maiolo who was fourth on Saturday night, on the back of a sixth, a fifth and a ninth thus far, whilst Andrew Priolo, who has a best result of a third so far, rounds out the top five.
The fifth round of the series will be at the Perth Motorplex on December 26 – which is also the first round of the USA v WA Sprintcar Speedweek battles.
