No Burgess at VAILO Adelaide 500

Burgess Stephen grove Adelaide 2022

Adrian Burgess will not attend his final event at Supercars this weekend in Adelaide with Paul Martin to be the acting Head of Motorsport.

Supercars confirmed last week Burgess made the “very difficult” decision to depart from the Head of Motorsport role he has occupied since 2018 in early 2024.

But it is now evident the Brit will not be present at the 2023 season finale, the VAILO Adelaide 500 which begins on Thursday.

This means Burgess has attended his last event as the Head of Motorsport, which was on the streets of Surfers Paradise last month.

Martin has been performing the Motorsport Operations Manager in the pits at each Supercars event in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, it is believed Burgess is on the move to Team 18 next season, while departing Tickford team principal Tim Edwards will be his replacement next year.

Supercars confirmed Burgess’ no show with a short statement on its website.

“Supercars can advise that Paul Martin will be acting in the role of Head of Motorsport this weekend at the VAILO Adelaide 500 for the Supercars Championship and the Dunlop Series,” the statement read.

“Martin is stepping in for Adrian Burgess who will not attend the event.

“Martin has a proven track record of management in pit lane as the Motorsport Operations Manager for Supercars.”

The first Supercars session in Adelaide is at 16.15 AEDT Thursday afternoon.
