Evans GP and Versa Motorsport join forces for European F3

By Timothy Neal

Australian open wheel teams Evans GP and Versa Motorsport will officially join up to create Versa Evans GP and compete in the 2024 Eurocup-3 Championship.

Evans GP has just had a successful debut campaign in GB4 with Aussie Versa Motorsport S5000 racer Cooper Webster behind the wheel, finishing second in the championship with Webster taking five wins and ten podiums.

The team also gave drives to the young Indian and American pair Kai Daryanani and Thomas Lee in Britain, and will also be contesting the 2024 Formula Middle East Championship, whilst S5000 team Versa Motorsport was also involved behind the scenes in the GB4 campaign with the Joshua Evans led Aussie outfit.

The Evans GP team finish third in the Teams championship in their debut year with Webster pulling the bulk of the points

The newly formed team will step up from the Tatuus F4-T014 to the Tatuus F3 T-318 machinery in what will be the second year for the Eurocup-3 series, with Versa Evans GP set to compete against the likes of established open wheel teams such as Campos Racing and MP Motorsport in an eight round season at some of Europe’s biggest tracks.

Although it’s not yet been announced, it’s expected that Webster will step up into the F3 machinery after a brilliant debut year in Britain, and in S5000 in Australia, whilst he also currently leads the newly formed F4 Indian Championship.

Team Principal of Evans GP Joshua Evans says that it’s the perfect partnership with Versa to step up through the junior formulae ranks.

“The formation of Versa Evans GP represents a strategic collaboration between Evans GP and Versa  Motorsport” Evans said.

“Having worked together since early 2023, I could see that Versa’s goals and philosophy of  working was very similar to that of Evans GP. We’re looking forward to further building on this. Our goal in  Eurocup-3 is to compete at the highest level, maximising performance and success.”

Team Principal of Versa Motorsport Toby Pope echoed the sentiment, and looks forward to assisting young drivers make the step-up from the Karting and Formula 4 machinery.

“This partnership with Evans GP marks a new chapter in our journey. Versa Evans GP is built on a shared  commitment to excellence in motorsport, with our collective resources and expertise putting us in a  strong position for Eurocup-3,” Pope explained.

“After an extensive period of evaluation, we have identified Eurocup-3 as  the right stepping stone for drivers wanting to progress from high-level karting and Formula 4.”
