Cameron Hill inks new MSR deal

Cameron Hill has signed a new multi-year deal to keep him at Matt Stone Racing after making positive progress as a rookie in 2023.
The Canberra native has proved his viability as a possible future top-ten contender, with MSR being impressed with Hill’s attitude, resilience and growth, as he continues to reinforce their belief in not only his potential, but in the bright future that lays ahead.
Hill will race with a different teammate at MSR next year after Jack Le Brocq announced his departure for Erebus, and is currently gearing up to race at the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 with Jaylyn Robotham.
Hill’s best result this year saw him start in the top five at Symmons Plains Raceway, along with a season high finish of P8.

The 26-year-old Camaro driver says that getting the deal inked off is good for his mindset going forward.
“To have a multi-year contract locked in is awesome. It’s really good for the mindset to know what the future holds. For a long time in my junior career you’re never more than 12 months ahead in your planning as it’s like ‘we’re doing this now, but who knows what we’re going to do next year,” His explained.
“To have this locked in is great because you’re just starting to settle in and chip away at improving over time. It is the premier category of Australian motorsport, it’s certainly competitive and it will be good to have some runway in front of me to continue to climb up.”
He also says that his own goals and attitude toward building for success match that of the current team environment.
“It’s been a really awesome year working with the guys at MSR. I’m grateful to the team for putting its trust in me for the next few seasons and I want to reward that investment by lifting us both as high as we’ve ever been.
“I know my goals and what I want to achieve, Matt also has big targets as well. We’ve gelled well and together we see all these goals and targets as achievable. It’s cool to have a group of people surrounding you that believe in and want to back you, so I want to repay all that.

“To get this confirmed prior to the biggest races of the season is awesome. There is already a lot of pressure that comes with the endurance races, so to not have that added external pressure of not knowing where you’re going to be next year is a really good thing.”
Team Owner Matt Stone says that he’s got no doubt that Hill has the qualities of a future Supercars front-runner.
“It’s good to have Cam locked in for the next few seasons. We have been impressed by his progress over this year and he has proven himself as a valuable asset to our team, and really become part of the family here,” Stone said.
“We have seen him grow and develop as a driver, and we have no doubt that he has what it takes to race at the front of the Supercars field.
“This long-term commitment between MSR and Cam strengthens our combined vision for success and as a team we’ll continue to provide him with the resources and support necessary to continue on this upward trajectory together.”
After going through a productive test day with Robotham at the Queensland Raceway, despite some issues with his tyres, the #35 Camaro will be taking to the track for the return of the Sandown 500 on September 15-17.
