Everingham and Cox join Darwin’s TA2 world-first

Tyler Everingham and Jordan Cox have become the first co-drivers to sign up for the TA2 Muscle Car two-driver event at Hidden Valley, Darwin.
The April 29-May-1 Hi-Tec Oils Super Series event will be a worlds first in the TA2 stakes, as teams converge on Hidden Valley from all around the country for the two-driver event.
Everingham, a Tickford Supercars co-driver, and Cox, a TCR Australia race winner, are the first drivers to put their hands up to join the regular field of TA2 Muscle Car drivers for its second round of the season.
With the timing of the format still to be released, each driver will contest a sprint race, before joining up for a longer race featuring a driver swap and a timed pit stop.

Everingham will share the #7 TA2 Mustang with Super series regular Jackson Rice
Everingham, who races in the National Trans Am series, will be joining up with TA2 gun Jackson Rice, in the Dream Racing #7 Mustang.
“I’m currently racing with Dream Racing Australia in the Trans Am Series and the opportunity popped up to race with Jackson [Rice] in the TA2 series,” Everingham said.
As soon as we heard there was a possibility of a co-driver round, we already sort of had a bit of an idea that we wanted to do it.
“It’s a great opportunity to jump in and especially try and get some more miles for the Trans-Am Series rounds later in the year.
“It’s extremely valuable to get up to Darwin. It’s really difficult to get an opportunity to race anything up there outside of Supercars. It’s a long way to travel and to get this opportunity to go over and get some decent laps is really good.
“Any sort of endurance racing and practice will be great once it comes time for Sandown and Bathurst later in the year. It’s a great opportunity and I can’t wait to get over there and race in the TA2 Series.”

Cox will jump in the mean-looking #4 Crutcher Mustang for his V8 racing debut
Cox will join up with Mark Crutcher in the #4 Crutcher Developments Mustang, which will be his competitive debut in a V8, rear-wheel driving car. The GRM racer has already cut some laps at Winton, prior to the Super Series’ opener at the same venue.
“I’m super excited to line up for the TA2 enduro in Darwin. Mark Crutcher, who’s a good friend of mine and someone who supported me in the early days of my racing career, asked me to tag along and it took me less than a second to say yes for it,” Cox said.
“I’m pretty keen to shake the ‘front-wheel drive’ tag. I’d like it to be an ‘all-round racer’ tag. To be honest, every time I drive a rear wheel drive car I like it more than a front-wheel drive.
“I haven’t driven one in a competitive outing in a race meeting before, so it will be a different kettle of fish. Mark’s got a good car, it’s well prepared and there’s no reason why I don’t think we should do well at it.”

Rice was a race winner at the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series opener at Winton
With the scenic backdrop of the stunning Northern Territory landscape, the event promises to be an unforgettable experience for both drivers and fans alike, with more entries to be announced in the coming days.
Round 2 of the 2023 TA2 Muscle Car Series takes place on 29 April – 1 May at Hidden Valley Raceway. Monday’s races will be live and free to air on SBS and simulcast on Fox Sports and Kayo.
