SpeedSeries scores extended coverage for 2023

After a strong year of viewership numbers over Stan Sport and the Nine Network, the unified SpeedSeries brand is set to see an enhanced television package for 2023.
For motorsport Australia and the Australian Racing Group series’ it was the biggest year yet for people tuning in over Stan Sport and the Nine Network platforms, and it’s unified SpeedSeries is now set to trump this year’s numbers.
The new viewing package sees Stan Sport working in conjunction with the Nine Network to expand the free-to-air element of the broadcasting for every SpeedSeries event, with channel Nine to give an increased 30% viewing time, with an extra three hours of live high-def viewing.
Every event will be live with special insights and features, and alongside this, Nine will also offer an extended category highlight replay package.
Mike Smith, director of Motorsport Australia and commercial operations, feels that after a strong year for the Shannons Nationals rounds, the partnership with ARG and the extended coverage will be a success.
“We’re exceptionally proud of each and every Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event that was held throughout 2022 and it’s clear the SpeedSeries is growing stronger every year,” Smith said.
“With a unified SpeedSeries brand and a strong calendar of events for 2023, these events are only going to get bigger, better and more popular in the years ahead.”
On the other side of the amalgamated coin, Liam Curkpatrick, Chief Operating Officer of the ARG, is excited to see the results of the unified SpeedSeries in conjunction with the new broadcast deal.
“This was the biggest year of racing that SpeedSeries has seen, from broadcasting to trackside spectators and entrant participation,” said Curkpatrick.
“The entertainment and content factor in what we have produced is exceptional and it’s a credit to all involved that we are able to achieve what we have this year.
“Confirmation of more broadcasting in an exciting announcement today, and there’s even more initiatives that puts the SpeedSeries in great shape for 2023.”
With the Bathurst International and the Bathurst 6 hour getting great viewing numbers over Stan Sport, and over 1.5 million people tuning in over Channel nine for the SpeedSeries in total, the revised 2023 SpeedSeries promises to deliver more, with an expanded eight round series around some of Australia’s great race tracks is set to deliver a record year.
