Aussie ace signs with British Hitech GP

Young Aussie jet James Piszcyk has been announced for Hitech Grand Prix to race in the British F4, and FIA sanctioned F4 UAE championship next year.
The young 16-year-old open wheel talent will also contest a Formula 4 trophy race that will support Formula 1 at the season closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Piszcyk left for England last October to do a series of tests in a Hitech GP F4 car, choosing to miss the final round of the Australian Formula Ford championship that he was leading.

The opportunity for the official test day in Snetterton, UK, was too good an opportunity to pass up, with Piszcyk telling AUTO ACTION that he’s thankful to have the opportunity to chase his F1 dream with such a high quality set-up.
“To be be racing with Hitech is just amazing with their previous history, and going to a team that’s just won the British F4 championship also,” Piszcyk explained.
“They’ve got everything, an F2 team, F3 team, they got the GP3 team, Asian F3 programme, it’s a pathway towards my dream of trying to make F1 and it’s a real honour to be racing with them.
“I’m really excited to race in the UAE beforehand and to prepare for the British F4 season, and I’m honestly just looking forward to practicing and learning as much as I can prior to the UK.
“I realise that not many kids from Australia get to have this opportunity, and I just want to grab it with both hands and make the most of it. I’m definitely not taking this chance for granted that’s for sure.

Piszcyk will race with Hitech GP in the British F4 in 2023
Hitech’s Formula 4 team manager, Dominic Stott, has said that he’s impressed by the commitment of Piszcyk to chase his goals.
“It’s great to be able to welcome Jim to the team for Abu Dhabi later this month and the 2023 season,” Stott said.
“It’s a big commitment to make the move across the pond and this is the ideal next step for him to progress.
“He is used to racing at the front now and that’s what we aim to continue. Having Jim onboard is another sign of where we aim to be in the new year.”
The young South Australian will join another Aussie on the grid in Abu Dhabi and in the British F4, with Costa Toparis from Carlin Racing also taking part under the bright lights of the F1 carnival.

Piszcyk’s Hitech GP signing caps off a fantastic year for young Australians in the open wheel field, from the F4 with Hugh Barter and Lochie Hughes, Dylan Quinn to the NZ TRS series, Jack Doohan doing an F1 practice session in Mexico to go with a strong year in the F2, and right to the top of the Pyramid with Oscar Piastri signing for McLaren.
The first British F4 for Piszcyk will be in April, with the season kicking off at Donington park, Derby.
