Top Fuel and ADRC head to the Wild West

The fastest cars in Australia are heading to Perth for the 48th annual Goldenstates show, featuring the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championships and Australian Drag Racing Championships.
Six 12,000+hp nitro-powered Top Fuel Dragsters will descend on Perth’s Motorplex on November 11-12, as well as a field of ADRC Top Doorslammers, and ADRC Top Fuel Motorcycle racers.
Alongside them will be plenty of other impressive vehicles of all shapes and sizes from the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series and WA Drag Racing Championships.
Drag racing fans will be in heaven with the postponed A and B finals of the Top Fuel and Top Doorslammers from Alice Springs also taking place, making it double the action at the Motorplex.
The superstars of the Australian Top Fuel Champions will feature the heavy hitters of two-time reigning national title holders Peter Xiberras of PremiAir Racing, former champs Phil Lamattina, Phil Read, Damien Harris and Wayne Newby.
Series newcomer Shane Olive, who scored his first Top Fuel victory in round 4 of last season, will also be taking on the former title winners.
Eleven-time Doorslammer champion John Zappia, and round 01 ADRC Top Doorslammer winner Kelvin Lyle, also add to the huge list of stars, as well as last year’s Goldenstates winner Stuart Moresby, and defending ADRC title winner Daniel Gregorini.
On two wheels, Top Fuel Motorcycle will be headlined by big names such as round 1 ADRC Top Fuel Motorcycle winner Rob Cassar, along with local heroes Mark Drew and Jay Upton; and the world’s fastest amputee, Benny Stevens, will also be tearing down the straight.
Australian Top Fuel Championship and ADRC promoter, Andy Lopez, is excited for the intensely packed program that will showcase Australia’s best.
“The Perth Motorplex is an absolutely fantastic facility and a perfect venue for showcasing the raw power and mind-blowing spectacle of Top Fuel, ADRC Top Doorslammer and ADRC Top Fuel Motorcycle,” Lopez says.
“Local heroes will take on interstate challengers in what is guaranteed to be an absolutely wild show over two big nights.
“With the second round of qualifying on Friday night also hosting the finals from Alice Springs for Top Fuel and Top Doorslammer, the intensity is going to be through the roof.
“The Goldenstates is one of the biggest events on the WA motorsport calendar and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of what is set to be an epic show at the Motorplex next weekend.”
The Goldenstates will be held across November 11 and 12. For full event information, schedules and more, go to www.motorplex.com.au
