TOURING CAR MASTERS LOOKING TO TAKE ON THE STREETS OF NEWCASTLE

By Timothy Neal

With today’s announcement of the 2023 SpeedSeries and the ongoing wait for next year’s Supercars calendar, the Touring Car Masters have announced a six-series season split between the two.

It’s believed that the opening round will most likely be at the Newcastle 500 for the Supercars Gen3 opener, and as-per this year, close up the season on the streets of Adelaide.

Six rounds of broadcasted races will await the fan-favourite series, which this year has two rounds to run with Ryan Hansford holding a slim five point lead on John Bowe in a Torana tug-of-war.

However it’s not entirely two-horse race, with the big six litre cars of comeback king Adam Bressington upsetting the apple-cart with a barnstorming win at Sandown, and George Miedecke looming in his #85 Camaro – still a chance of pinching the championship.

Cam Tilley is a hard charger, sitting fourth in his Valiant, after completing a remarkable rebuild-return for Sandown. But with the Bathurst International to come in November, all eyes will be on Bowe, the two-time Great Race winner, who’s aiming for his seventh TCM title, as well as being a four-time runner up.

The heads of TCM are currently negotiating with Supercars over how many appearances they’ll do for the category, after this year supporting the main-gamers on the streets of Townsville and for the up-coming Adelaide 500 in December.
