TCR FOUNDER EXCITED TO SEE THE MOUNTAIN

By Auto Action

TCR Series founder Marcello Lotti will make a special appearance at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International for the final round of the 2022 TCR Australia Series in November.

It will be Lotti’s second visit to Australia since his popular touring car category was introduced to Australian shores back in 2019 where he witnessed the Phillip Island event first hand.

The Italian will be joined by Nunzia Corvino, the Chief Operating Officer for the WSC Group at the world-famous Mount Panorama circuit.

Lotti said he is eagerly awaiting his trip to the Mountain for the season final of the 2022 TCR Australia Series.

“This will be our second trip to TCR Australia and we are delighted to have the opportunity to meet again Matt, the whole staff and all the competitors,” he said.

“The Australian TCR series is one of the premiere TCR Series around the world for both the size of the field and the quality of the competition.

“We are thrilled to attend the final battle for the title, especially because it is hosted at such a legendary venue as Mount Panorama, Bathurst, where some of the best international Touring Car stars will join the field. We can’t wait to arrive down under.”

Lotti is the former boss of the World Touring Car Championship and the founder and president of the WSC Group – the global promotor for TCR Series. He first developed the TCR platform in 2014, based on the then one-make SEAT León Supercopa category.

From the heights of the WTCR to domestic series in Germany, UK, Italy, Russia, Australia and Japan, there are currently four internationally-sanctioned TCR Series competing around the world, plus 12 national or regional series utilising the TCR regulations as their main rule book.

The 2022 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series has just one round remaining and there are six genuine title challengers, led by Honda Civic Type R driver Tony D’Alberto.

He holds a 56 point lead over Peugeot’s Jordan Cox who is only just in front of a gaggle of contenders, including Supercars star Will Brown, Hyundai’s Josh Buchan and rising Audi talent Jay Hansen.
