BRAID LEAVES ARG MANAGEMENT

The Australian Racing Group (ARG) has confirmed a key change in management, with Matt Braid stepping down from his role as Chief Executive  Officer, effective from 1st October 2022. 

They have also announced an additon to the board, in the form of Liam Curkpatrick in the role of Chief Operating Officer, an existing ARG board member since 2019.

After four years as the inaugural CEO, Matt has decided to pursue other opportunities outside of the sport.  

John McMellan, Executive Chairman of ARG stated, “Matt has led the business for the last four years and  everyone is well aware that navigating the pandemic years was challenging and taxing We wish to  acknowledge his commitment and the achievements made under his leadership.” 

Matt will continue in an advisory role supporting the transition and working with the board and management  on key strategic initiatives. 

We are also pleased to confirm appointment of Liam Curkpatrick to the role of Chief Operating Officer.  Liam has been with ARG since 2019 in his current role as General Manager, Motorsport Operations. 

Liam has an extensive background in motorsport operations which prior to joining ARG included management  roles across the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, V8 Touring Cars / Super3, Australian  production cars, prototype series and Adelaide International raceway. 

Liam will commence in the newly created COO role which will replace the CEO role effective from 1 October  2022 and he will assume day to day leadership of the business operations.  

He will report directly to the ARG board and its Executive Chairman, John McMellan, who added: 

“It is very pleasing to see Liam step up into this role, he is well regarded for his knowledge, communication  and pragmatism by our competitors, corporate sponsors, and event partners. We are confident that his  appointment will be integral to the business taking a significant step forward in 2023” 

In support of these changes the following operational changes will also occur, Ken Collier will report to Liam  as the Head of Event Operations and Ben McMellan will also report to Liam as the Head of Category  Operations. Additional recruitments to the operations team are also well advanced and confirmation of these  appointments will follow in due course.
