Nathan Herne grabbed his second pole running, edging out series leader and teammate Owen Kelly in damp conditions in a two-part Qualifier.
The bottom half of the field went out first for the 10 minute qualifier after the Radical Cup Australia series opened the day on a cold morning in Ipswich, making for some frantic wheel work in the cockpit.
Multiple red flags ate some of that time away, but there was enough time for drivers to log some laps, as last years runner up Edan Thornburrow took his mustang around in a 1:27.582, which would ultimately give him a P15 start for the afternoon’s race.
Jackson Rice, Craig Scutella, Chris Pappas and James Simpson all fell in behind the grid on Thornburrow, with Simpson nearly 5s off the pace.
In the second group of qualifiers it was an all-Garry Rogers Motorsport affair, with Herne and Kelly trading blows until the eventual pole getter logged a 1:23.2667, edging out the series leader by 0.1903s.

Ben Grice will go alongside Brook, having fallen just short of P3, whilst Supercars driver and Trans Am debutant Brodie Kostecki impressed with a 1:24.2078, under a second off pacesetter Herne.
Nash Morris came in sixth, just under 2s off the benchmark, ahead of Jett Johnson, Cody Burcher, Brett Holdsworth (fourth in the standings) and Elliot Barber in the Camaro.
Kyle Gurton, who sits fifth in the championship standings, fell just outside the top ten by 0.0523s, heading up Lochie Dalton, Super2 driver Jack Sipp, and Tom Hayman, to make up the top half of the field.
Qualifying down the back of the field was Victorian John Hollinger, 0.24.2339s off the pace.
