MEL’S EXCEL-LENT ADVENTURE – PART ONE

MEL’S EXCEL-LENT ADVENTURE – PART ONE

By Timothy Neal

Avid motorsport followers in Australia are probably familiar with the name Melinda Price.

She was part of the trailblazing ‘Castrol Cougars’ female Supercar team that took the scene by storm in the late 90s, mixing it with the best touring car racers in the country.

In recent years, however, motorsport has taken a back seat in Price’s life.

That is until now, as Mel has detailed her road back to racing in the latest edition of AUTO ACTION.

Price is putting together a racing diary to document her return to the sport she loves, describing the task of building a Hyundai Excel from the ground up and training to meet the physical demands of motorsport after time on the sidelines.

In the first entry of her series, Mel recounts her journey through motorsport so far, painting a picture of a childhood and early adult life ruled by the world of motorsport.

Price also explains her recent return through karts and driver training, as well as the purchase of her new racing machine.

Mel’s Excel was hardly a finished product out of the box though – she also describes the process of building her ‘buggy’ from scratch, preparing a car that can withstand the rigours of door-to-door competitive action.

A feature that cannot be missed, make sure to catch Part 1 of Mel’s Excel-lent Adventure before Issue 1829 of AUTO ACTION leaves the shelves!

All this and much more can be found in the latest edition of AUTO ACTION on sale online and in stores now.
