With the IndyCar Series opener just over one month away Scott McLaughlin’s new Team Penske livery for the Road America round has been revealed.

A far cry from his bright 2021 artworks, the new design revolves around the muted colour combination of white and black with yellow accents, while also featuring plentiful sponsor stickers.

The 2021 Rookie of the Year will be backed by Sonsio Vehicle Protection at Road America, a company that specialises in tyre and wheel road hazard programs, vehicle appearance programs, parts and labour warranty programs and mechanical advice.

As such, red Sonsio stickers can be seen on the top, sides and rear wing of McLaughlin’s #3 Chevrolet.

Sonsio has also signed on to be the title sponsor for the IndyCar Series event, now named the Sonsio Grand Prix.

“It is an honour to represent partners that have already tasted success with Team Penske over the years, including Sonsio,” McLaughlin said.

“My aim is to continue those winning ways with the #3 Sonsio Chevrolet in 2022.

“Road America is a perfect place for us to do that.

“Coming from Australia that was one track that I was anxious to get to, and it did not disappoint. It is a proper, classic American racetrack.”

Three-time Supercars champion McLaughlin finished 14th in his first full IndyCar campaign, highlighted by a podium finish at Texas Motor Speedway.

The Kiwi was particularly strong on ovals, but not the street circuits and road courses that he was used to from touring car racing.

Entering his second season McLaughlin has promised to return fitter, stronger and better prepared.

The 2022 season will launch on the streets of St. Petersburg on February 27.

The Road America Sonsio Grand Prix will take place on June 12.
