Incidents galore, safety cars and hard racing highlighted the action in the supports classes at the Bathurst 1000 on day four.
SUPERCHEAP AUTO TCR AUSTRALIA
After starting 14th Jordan Cox (Alfa Romeo Giulietta) systematically worked his way to the front and took out race two of the second round ahead of Aaron Cameron and Ben Bargwanna in a pair of Peugeot 308s.
Numerous cars had tyre failures including Michael Caruso who was third until he fired off into the Chase sand trap. The race resumed with a one-lap dash to the flag where Christopher Mies (Audi RS3) displaced James Moffat (Renault Megane) at the Chase to take fourth.
Lachlan Mineeff (Volkswagen Golf GTi) was sixth in front of John Martin (Honda Civic Type R), Nathan Morgan (Hyundai I30N) and Keegan Brain (Golf). Brad Shiels (I30N) had the lead from lap three to lap six before he had a delamination. He returned to the race and finished 11th. He won ahead of points rival Jayden Ojeda (Nissan Altima) with Jordans Boys (VF) able to hold off Zak Best (Ford Falcon FG/X) and Tyler Everingham (Altima) for third.
Aaron Seton (VF) was next ahead of a four-car stoush involving the three Eggleston Motorsport VFs of Matt McLean, Josh Fife and Tim Blanchard and the Falcon piloted by Matt Chahda. The latter was able to pass the trio before being shuffled back behind them. McLean who instigated it with a bump on Chahda at Turn 2, was penalised 5.0 seconds.
Nash Morris won the first race in Super3 to seal the series title. In his Falcon FG, Morris led all the way and finished six seconds ahead of Blake Fardell (Holden Commodore VE) and Jim Pollicina (VE).
The race was marred by a pair of safety cars, the first for David Murphy (FG) who beached at Murrays Corner on the first lap. Another safety car was brought about when Paul Boschert (VE) was tipped into the McPhillamy Park sand trap by a Super2 car.
Reef McCarthy started at the rear of field and worked his way to second place before his FG went onto seven cylinders and he parked before the Cutting. Michael Anderson (FG) was running fourth and then third when McCarthy had problems. A badly flat-spotted tyre forced him to concede to Pollicina.
